Mighty Men

Joel 3:9 “Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare war. Stir up the mighty men. Let all the warriors draw near. Let them come up. 你们要在列国中宣告以下这话：“你们要预备争战，要激动勇士。让所有的战士都近前来，让他们都上去攻击。”

All of our fathers in church, you are mighty men, you are prepare for war, prepare to serve the Lord, serve the people, your are a protector. Let all the mighty men draw near, draw near to Jesus Christ. Let them come up, let them be on the front line, let them lead, let them be glorified, let them enjoy God’s Glory. Amen!

This is what men suppose to be in Church, and we have men like this in our church. Godly men. I wanna look at some verses today. Word from King David to Solomon: “David's time was coming to an end. So he commanded Solomon his son, "I'm following the path that the whole earth takes. Be strong and be a man. Guard what is owed to the LORD your God, walking in his ways and observing his laws, his commands, his judgments, and his testimonies, just as it is written in the Instruction from Moses. In this way you will succeed in whatever you do and wherever you go.” (1 Kings 2:1-3)

When Bible talks about men, it talks about real men. Not just masculine men, or brainy man, it is talking about real men that has God’s Purpose, God’s Plan, God’s image. Do you remember this verse? “Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness...So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him.” (Genesis 1:26-27). This is the first time that the word ‘man’ appeared in the Bible.

So king David was about to pass away, and this was his final teaching to his heir, his son, the next king.

The context is not Just about how to be a good king. But also how to be a good father, and a good husband. Because a real men, mighty men, he is not just a good leader, but also a good father and a good husband.

It is easy for a father to teach his son, it is easy to tell how things should be done. It is easy for me to tell you what Bible said about how to be good father, good husband, great mighty men. I can list 10 or even 50 things about how to be a great father, husband and leader. This is not hard at all for me to teach. Because every one can do this.

You know what is hard? The hardest part is to set the life example. To be the role model, from the beginning to the end. Solomon was a good king, so does his dad David. But Solomon was not a good husband or father, so does his dad David. We can see a pattern here:

Solomon (not a good father)

We all have been influenced by our previous generations. But the good news is, we can be new creation in our Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus can break every chain and every bad patterns that runs in our family line. We have the best Heavenly Father to be our role model and example. To all the mighty men in our church, may we be the good leader, father, husband, protector that God has created us to be! Happy father’s day!
